Am I doing everything right?

Dear Catherine,

Hello, I am 50 years old now and my periods stopped this year and had been very irregular and heavy since I turned 47 to the point that I had anemia and was taking 3 iron pills daily for over a year. The Dr’s put me on all kinds of hormones and birth control. I also went to them for low sex drive and they kept telling me I was depressed and wanted to put me on depression pills, which I refused.

The last time I was at the Dr I ask her about Progesterone cream and she said she didn’t see any reason for it but if I thought I needed to try progesterone she would give me capsules to take for one week to see if my periods would start . Well I never took them out of fear. I did start on 1/8th teaspoon of the cream DR JOHN LEE recomends when I came across it in Health Food Store.

My sex drive came back immediately and I have been feeling so much happier. Am I doing everything right? I use this cream twice a day for 26 days then stop for 5 days . Also I have a 9 year old girl at home and if this cream happens to get on her when my face touches her face will it affect her? Also I have gained weight around the middle that I never had before, will this cream help that also? I am an avid exerciser.

Thank you for any help,

Dianna

Dear Dianna,

Congratulations! You appear to be doing all the right things.

You are applying cream 3 weeks out of 4 (because you’re menopausal), you are using physiological doses of 20mg to ensure you are not over-taxing your body or contributing to further hormone imbalance, AND you are getting the desire results. Well done! The only inclusion here would be to get under the care of a collaborative and caring physician if you can to ensure ALL your hormones are within normal reference ranges (using salivary hormone assays) and you get the appropriate tests.

CAUTION: Keep your progesterone cream out of reach of younger children.

Your jar or tube of cream may look like a cosmetic but it definitely is not. It contains a human hormone that has the potential to disrupt a child’s endocrine system. Basically, it’s a form of medication doctors routinely refer to as HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

Hormone balance can have a favourable impact on metabolic health and weight loss. Certainly, if you are estrogen dominant it will have the appearance of immediate weight loss by correcting fluid retention and opposing excess estrogen in the body.

Women suffering hormone imbalance typically store weight around their tummy, hips and thighs. Weight carried around the midriff may be suggest liver dysfunction or other contributing factors. I would suggest you take the time to arrange a complete health screening via your preferred healthcare professional.
