Green Superfoods - Better Than A Multivitamin

The term ‘Green Superfood’ described foods such as Spirulina, Chlorella, Barley Grass and Wheat Grass. These are nature’s most highly concentrated nutrient-rich whole foods and they provide micronutrients that are a necessary party of our diet.

More and More, research is now emerging every day from scientists and nutritionists identifying powerful whole foods and plants which contain special health-enhancing nutritional compounds which can be the key to maintaining high-level health.

The primary and most important source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients is from natural foods as part of a healthy and balance diet. It is best to consume vitamins and minerals in the form of natural foods; here they occur in their natural state strengthened by their combination with other nutritive factors such as enzymes and trace elements in the perfect balance for our bodies to easily absorb them.

Many studies have shown that the nutrients in whole foods are better digested, absorbed and retained than their synthetic counterparts.

Did you know that most multi-vitamin formulas sold today are predominantly synthetic? This means the nutrients in them are produced in a laboratory rather than coming from a natural food source. Science simply cannot reproduce the perfect nutritional balance of Green Superfoods. Vitamins and minerals never work as effectively on their own, a shortage of one nutrient can affect the function and utilisation of many others.

Are you getting as much from synthetic vitamins as a Green Superfood can delivery?

In addition to natural vitamins and minerals, Green Superfoods contain protein, enzymes, fibre, carotenoids and natural healthy plant pigments all delivered in a perfect blend by nature.

Some synthetic multivitamin formulas combine unnecessary high levels or conflicting ingredients that can hinder or even negate absorption.

The beauty of Green Superfoods is that they concentrate all the goodness from green vegetables and plants into a convenient and easy-to-take form.

Spirulina (energy)

Exhausted, fatigues, tired, worn out or lacking in energy? One of the most common complaints today is how tired people are particularly mid morning and mid afternoon.

Spirulina is a spiral shaped microscopic fresh-water plant that derives its energy from sunlight and water through the process of photosynthesis.
Spirulina has been traditionally consumed by many cultures as a highly valued natural food for centuries and has been growing on Earth for 3.5 billion years.

The benefits of Spirulina:

  • Tops up energy levels, vitality and stamina
  • Gives a long lasting natural energy boost
  • Contains all the essential amino acids
  • Contains glycogen for instant energy
  • Supports balanced blood sugar levels and helps manage cravings
  • Supports mental clarity and focus

Chlorella (cleansing detox)

Much of the food we eat contains chemicals: preservatives, colours, pesticides and flavourings. Food can also be loaded with saturated fats and refined carbohydrates. All these toxic materials we eat can clog up our bodies, make our system slow down and then our cells find it hard to absorb anything good and end up being drowned in sludge!

Symptoms of over-toxicity in the bowls are generally seen as feeling sluggish and tired, low energy, irritability, bad breath, body odour, skin problems, headaches, loss of appetite, flatulence, infequent bowel motions and often just a feeling of being unwell.

As research is now proving, it is being discovered that many diseases are aggravated or even caused by poor bowel health. If you body can?t get rid of the toxins or waste in your bowel, you will not have the ability to function at your optimum level. This is why detoxifying the body regularly is so important.

Chlorella is a microscopic plant containing over 20 vitamins and minerals and is abundant in RNA & DNA nucleic acids.

Chlorella contains the highest natural source of chlorophyll available.

The benefits of Chlorella:

  • Flushes out stored waste and pollutants
  • Helps rid the body of toxins
  • Helps tone and cleanse the blood
  • Acts as an inernal deodorant
  • Refreshes the bowel and breath
  • Helps to reduce body odour

Barley Grass (body alkaliser)

It is very easy in this day and age to get ourselves wound up, tense and over-acidic by the busy lifestyle we lead, eating too much fast food and not taking time to include enough healthy fresh green vegetables in our diets. Overeating and the typical acidic lifestyle (white bread, sugar, takeaways, fried, processed or refined foods, tea, coffee, cigarettes and alcohol) are the key reasons for people becoming over-acidic.

Barley Grass imparts an alkaline residue once digested and can help to nourish and balance your system.

Barley Grass is gluten free and can be used by coeliacs (people allergic to gluten or wheat products). The many enzymes present such as cytochrome oxidase, lipase, protease and amylase support good health digestive function and intestinal flora.

Barley Grass is non allergenic and is excellent for a wide variety of conditions as it contains no animal or dairy products or synthetic additives.

The benefits of Barley Grass:

  • Balancing, neutralising and nourishing to the body
  • High alkalising ? reduces acidity in the body
  • High in natural colloidal ionic minerals
  • Great for those on restricted diets
  • Beneficial to people with weakened digestive systems

Alfalfa (phytoestrogen)

Although alfalfa is a food crop for animals, it also has been employed as an herbal medicine for at least 1500 years. Ingestion of alfalfa seeds or sprouts may be associated with a decrease in blood cell production while the leaves and stems provide a good source of protein as well as vitamins and minerals.

The most promising value for alfalfa as a health treatment is in the area of cholesterol control. Based on empirical evidence, fibers and chemicals in alfalfa appear to stick to cholesterol, keeping it from staying in the blood or depositing in blood vessels. More of the harmful types of cholesterol leave the body, while high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the “good” kind of cholesterol, appears to be unaffected by the ingestion of alfalfa.

While studies do not provide conclusive evidence, it is now believed that alfalfa may also slightly lower blood sugar levels due to its high manganese content.

Alfalfa may also have some ability to enhance immune system function. Alfalfa seeds are also used as a folk remedy for asthma or other breathing conditions. Chemicals in alfalfa have mild diuretic properties, which may promote the loss of water from the body. Therefore, alfalfa may relieve swelling caused by excess water accumulation. Because other components of alfalfa may act somewhat like the female hormone estrogen, it has been suggested as potentially useful in menopause as well.

Phytoestrogens

More than 300 foods have been shown to contain phytoestrogens. Most food phytoestrogens are from one of three chemical classes, the isoflavonoids, the lignans or the coumestans. Isoflavonoid phytoestrogens are found in beans from the legume family; soybeans and soy products are the major dietary source of this type of phytoestrogens. Lignan phytoestrogens are found in high fiber foods such as cereal brans and beans; flaxseeds contain large amounts of lignans. The coumestan phytoestrogens are found in various beans such as split peas, pinto beans, and lima beans; alfalfa and clover sprouts are the foods with the highest amounts of coumestans.

Please note: Alfalfa is believed to have a high level of estrogenic activity.

Kelp (metabolic health)

Kelp contains over 60 minerals and elements, 21 amino acids, simple and complex carbohydrates and several essential plant growth hormones.

Being rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements is one of the key reasons why kelp is known as a great promoter of glandular health, especially for the pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands. Kelp also supplies a natural source of iodine, which acts as an antibiotic to kill germs.

Since the thyroid and pituitary glands regulate certain functions of digestion, kelp is beneficial in balancing out humans and animal’s total system. Nature has offered us this marvelous “herb of the sea” in a complete and balanced form.

Kelp was first used medicinally to treat enlarged thyroid glands. Physicians didn’t know why kelp was effective, until it was discovered that it was exceptionally rich in iodine and that enlarged thyroids were due to an iodine deficiency. Because iodine worked by stimulating the thyroid gland that controls the metabolism, it was noted that those who took iodine lost weight more easily. From these observations, kelp was then used to assist in weight loss. It has been suggested that kelp’s positive effects in assisting metabolism may help in lowering cholesterol.

This versatile seaweed is also widely used to maintain healthy skin and hair. Kelp’s most dramatic application is its ability to neutralise heavy metal pollution and radiation in the body.

Studies have shown that the active ingredient in kelp, sodium alginate, can prevent the absorption of newly ingested heavy metals, but it has little effect on past exposures.

Super Nutirition

Green Superfoods surpass synthetic multi-vitamin formulas because they contain compounds that cannot be recreated in a laboratory.

They are rich in functional nutrients and phytonutrients that are in a natural form and easily absorbed by the body.
