I have always suffered migraine headaches, nausea and vomiting during the time of my period. Will progesterone help this?

We see many successful outcomes using natural progesterone.

Migraines are very debilitating. And this ailment can plagued women over a lifetime. They are rarely pain-free much less able to clear the fogginess in their head. Estrogen dominance has a great bearing on this condition. While headaches and migraines are multi-factorial, when hormonally induced, progesterone therapy has rendered remarkable results.

Hormone balancing via progesterone therapy will eventually resolve estrogen dominance induced headaches and migraines, however, it will take time, especially if you have suffered with chronic headaches for years.

One of the causes of nausea and headaches can be the result of too much estrogen in your body. Or there may be other contributing factors such as liver dysfunction, chemical sensitivities, food allergies, or perhaps something more sinister.

Given that you have indicated your headaches, nausea and vomiting are cyclic, there’s a very high probability that they are hormonal. Following a monthly pattern suggests estrogen dominance.

Too much estrogen in the body causes intracellular oedema (creating pressure from the internal swelling of the cells). When this occurs, it allows the sodium (salt) in the body to permeate (pass through) the cell membrane, bringing water through. Retaining body fluid on the wrong side of the cells creates a condition termed intracellular oedema and fluid retention which often causes headaches. Chickens, for example, are fed high levels of estrogen-laced grain to plump up their cells, accelerate growth rate, thereby increasing body weight which, in turn, increases sale value.

A lot of women fail to realise that even though they may have a lot of fluid retention such as puffy feet and hands, particularly around this time of the month, they can actually be dehydrated because the body fluid is on the wrong side of the cell. So it’s important, if you’re a headache sufferer, to drink ample pure water, even though you might not feel like it. Contrary to what you might think, this will NOT increase your fluid retention. In fact, it will help you eliminate the excess estrogens and balance your fluids.

We see many women resort to diuretics (fluid tablets) to correct fluid retention. This can actually make headaches worse because it can create an electrolyte imbalance because they are urinating lots of valuable minerals.

A safer way of correction sodium retention is with the use of natural progesterone. Over a period of time, progesterone stops the permeability of sodium through the cells which helps balance the fluid within the blood. Reduced fluid retention will result, relieving headaches and blood pressure if it is hormonally influenced.

If you are already applying progesterone cream and continue to suffer headaches and/or fluid retention, look at other possible causes, maybe speak with your doctor, get saliva levels done.
