Huge Victory! Major Legislation Passes without Compounding Restrictions

Letter from Patients and Professionals for Customized Care

At the beginning of the year, Big Pharma stepped up their efforts to get Congress to pass a bill that would have restricted your access to compounded medicines. As you know, we worked hard to try and stop them.

Late last month, the bill that would have been the vehicle for anti-compounding legislation passed without any mention of compounding thanks to you. This is great news for patients with unique health needs!

With your support, the pharmacy profession and patient groups lobbied Congress aggressively to oppose Big Pharma’s bill. In our meetings on Capitol Hill, we heard directly from members of Congress that they were hearing from you. Some offices got thousands of letters! In total, you sent more than 45,000
e-mails to Capitol Hill. Each and every one made a difference. Thank you for dedicating your time and passion to preserve patient access to compounded medicines. Your hard work paid off.

Unfortunately, though, such victories are temporary. Big Pharma will be hard at work this fall and next year pushing policies that can restrict your access to compounded medicines and put your health at risk. And they have virtually limitless resources.

And while we can’t fight them dollar for dollar or lobbyist for lobbyist, there is one thing we can and must do: Take Action!

Take Action

Your collective voice has proved to be the most successful resource in this national debate and dialogue. With more than 42,000 members, P2C2 can make an impact — as we have seen.

Please stay involved!

Continue to reach out to your representatives in Congress and tell them how compounding makes a positive difference in your life. You can e-mail your members of Congress easily by clicking here.

Also, help us find new members. If you know someone who relies on compounded medicines or has a loved one who does —or if your prescriber is not yet involved — please urge them to join P2C2 by visiting http://www.savemymedicine.org/. Click here to access our “tell-a-friend” tool that makes it easy to let your friends know about P2C2.

Again, we owe this victory to you. We will continue to keep you informed of relevant developments on Capitol Hill as they occur. Thanks for your efforts to preserve patient access to compounded medicines.
