Progesterone Stories - PCOS
I am a product of this nations byproducts. For years I have consumed more than enough hydrogenated, pesticide and steroid filled food to give me a hormonal imbalance at the ripe age of 22.
With enough luck, I managed to get a dermatologist to finally recognize my list of symptoms and suggest that I may have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). He recommended I see either an endocrinologist or OB/GYN. I went to both. After 6 months of scheduled appointments that only resulted in taking more tests I was more or less told, “It looks like you probably have that PCOS thing” and I quote. The answer to which was my gynecologist handing me birth control pills. I told her I was worried about the side effects and didn’t feel comfortable being on something like that for an undetermined period of time. She responded with, “That’s okay” and handed me the prescription.
Needless to say, I stalled on taking them. Thankfully, luck presented itself again when the same gynecologist ironically suggested to my mom, who was having hormonal problems of her own, to try out progesterone from a natural health food store (this of course was after my mother told her every herb she was taking at the time). So we researched it online and decided we would both try it out. I’m on my third month and it’s amazing. Combined with diet and exercise I’ve lost weight, feel incredible and have begun to see a real improvement on the regulation of my cycle.
I cannot believe it took me so long to get to this point when the answer was so simple and available. This is a wonderful website and I’m so happy to see people taking initiative to educate others on this epidemic.
Sincerely
Vanessa
