What are the symptoms of menopause, and what causes them?

Menopause means the end of menstruation (monthly period), and it heralds the end of your reproductive years. .hop.clickbank.net target=top>Menopausal symptoms are triggered by the drop of estrogen, and varying in intensity. These are the most common:

  • absence of periods
  • hot flushes / flashes
  • aches and pains - joint, neck, backache
  • dizziness
  • headaches
  • vaginal dryness or itching
  • bladder problems - stress incontinence, other irritations, prone to infections
  • dry and aging skin - loss of elasticity
  • crawling or itching sensations under skin
  • poor sleep patterns - commonly waking 12pm, 2am and 4am
  • foggy thinking
  • emotional changes - anxiety, irritability, depression, loss of self-esteem, lacking confidence, panic attacks, and many more
  • physical exhaustion

Compare these symptoms to those listed in our Estrogen Dominance checklist and you would be understandably confused. Even though you may be low in your production of estrogen (because of ovarian failure) causing your periods to stop, you may yet be estrogen dominant as your progesterone levels drop to zero at menopause.

It is the sudden drop and surges of estrogen that brings on these hot flashes and other symptoms, that vary in severity and duration for every woman. Women who are not menopausal can experience these same symptoms when there is a huge ratio imbalance between these two hormones (as early as their mid-thirties).
