What do you mean by debilitating stages of estrogen dominance?
Hi Catherine,
?Unfortunately, some women abandon progesterone at the point of discomfort, not knowing how to get through the debilitating stages of estrogen dominance which can occur at any stage.? Can you tell me what this excerpt from the article on your site means?
Thank you,
Kathy
Dear Kathy,
Put simply, when a woman is estrogen dominant her estrogen receptor sites will, in time, down-regulate. Introducing progesterone will heighten these receptors (temporarily), thus estrogen dominance symptoms can appear to worsen before you notice a turn-around.
As your body settles down and progesterone begins to ?oppose? estrogen’s action in the body, you start to feel better, particularly if you’re considerably deficient of progesterone.
It?s this ?discomfort? experienced by some women that gets tagged as ’side-effects’. Technicially, your body is adjusting to the reintroduction of this hormone as distinct to responding adversely.
I’d like to share with you a letter that just hit my inbox this evening …
“Good morning, Catherine. After reading some of your ebook, I have got to tell you of my latest experience that I know has everything to do with the use of progesteorne cream. I have been using progesterone cream since February of this year - only 2 months - I use it 21 days on and 7 off, as I no longer menstruate since last June. This month after being off progesterone for 5 days I literally could not move without pain, and I felt drained. Last night I couldn’t wait any longer, took a hot shower, put my progesterone cream on and in 2 hours I could move without any pain. My entire body felt fantastic. Is this crazy or what? I did experience a headache while I was off for the last 2 days. I read where Dr Lee had a 91 year old patient who used cream every day. How do you feel about that? Have a beautiful day, warmly Christine.”
I consider Christine’s personal journey using progesterone to be both refreshing and inspiring. As to the question of whether you should take regular breaks from cream - I would suggest it. Simply because progesterone receptors will down-regulate if you don’t give them a ‘breather’. In this manner, regular breaks ensure a little bit of cream goes a long way!
