Why would I need progesterone if I am having a period every month?
If you are getting a period it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are ovulating.
A lot of women are of the belief that because they are having a regular cycle that they are ovulating regularly. Anovulatory periods (not ovulating each month) are quite common especially from 35 years onwards. If you have estrogen dominance symptoms, chances are you’re not ovulating or not producing enough progesterone required to oppose estrogen dominance.
Furthermore, the adrenals that would normally produce small amounts of progesterone may not be functioning properly, if at all.
The degree of severity of PMS and mood swings are an indication of the need for progesterone supplementation for hormone balance. These are classic symptoms of estrogen dominance which can vary month to month depending on whether you ovulate or not, your stress levels, nutrition, sleep patterns, what’s going on in your life, etc.
